Medical Spa Clifton Park
Capital Skin is a physician-owned medical spa at 1520 U.S. Route 9 in Clifton Park, NY, roughly a mile and a half south of where Route 146 crosses the Northway at Exit 9. Dr. John M. Purcell Jr., MD owns the practice and serves as its medical director, bringing 20+ years of experience as a physician (MD). Booking runs through (518) 458-7546, extension 2.
Most people who walk through the door here are already on Route 9 for something else. They’ve dropped a kid at a Shenendehowa building off Route 146, they’re heading back down the Northway toward a desk in Albany, or they’ve just finished a loop of errands at Clifton Park Center and Route 9 is the road home. That’s the whole reason a Saturday-by-appointment slot exists — the Exit 9 commute doesn’t leave much daylight on a Tuesday.
The other half of the room drives in from farther out. Malta and the Luther Forest campus sit twelve minutes north on Route 9 or the Northway, and GlobalFoundries runs its Fab 8 floor on rotating twelve-hour shifts, which is why a mid-morning weekday appointment is genuinely useful to a Malta patient and genuinely useless to someone working state hours downtown. Rexford and Vischer Ferry come in the other direction, east on Route 146 from the Mohawk River side. Niskayuna, Latham and Halfmoon are all inside a half-hour.
What you won’t find here is a chain. Capital Skin is one storefront on one road, not a brand dispatching the same appointment book to eleven towns — and if you want the full service menu, treatment by treatment, start at the Clifton Park medical spa on Route 9.
Ask anyone who’s tried to find us: the building is shared. Capital Skin Center, the dermatology practice run by Dr. J. Michael Purcell Sr., MD, operates out of the same address and is a separate business. Same door, two practices — dial extension 2 and you’ll reach the medical spa.
