BOTOX® is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use as a cosmetic enhancing agent. When small amounts of this protein are injected into localized areas under the surface of the skin, the muscles that cause crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines are relaxed allowing the skin above to lie smoothly and naturally, softening the appearance of lines and wrinkles and, in many cases, making them disappear completely.
BOTOX® injections have been approved for use as a cosmetic treatment by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and has been used successfully as a wrinkle-reducing therapy for more than five years. Because very small amounts of BOTOX® is precisely injected in localized areas during each treatment, no serious side effects occur. Some patients may experience temporary bruising or tenderness at the treated site.
Unfortunately, the effects of BOTOX® Injections are temporary. The good news is you can enjoy a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance for three to six months as a result of each treatment. In some cases, the effects of BOTOX® may last longer after several treatments have been administered.
Patients may experience a slight burning or pinching sensation during the injections and some temporary tenderness in the treated area following the procedure. The use of a topical anesthetic and a cooling compress are available to help relieve any discomfort you may experience before and after treatment
