PICO Genesis VS. Excel V. What is better for you?

Wake up radiant and confident with PICO Genesis, a laser procedure that returns balance and overall radiance to your skin.

PICO Genesis is the latest treatment to improve the appearance of unwanted freckles, sun damage and discoloration, and age spots - gently, safely, and effectively. PICO Genesis treatments will make your skin appear lighter, brighter, and more even in a series of treatments.

Q. How does the PICO Genesis treatment work?

Skin contains a substance called melanin which is what gives our skin its color. When melanin occurs in high concentrations, it can result in brown spots and uneven skin tone. PICO Genesis uses laser light to shatter unwanted pigmentation and remodel the upper layer of the skin to return your skin to its most even tone.

Q. What areas can be treated?

Treatments are ideal for the face, hands, chest and other areas of the body with noticeable signs of sun damage and excess pigmentation.

Q. What can I expect during a PICO Genesis treatment, and what does it feel like?

Before treatment, your provider will cleanse the skin. Most patients do not find the treatment uncomfortable, but if you do, your technician can apply a topical anesthetic. Immediately after treatment, you may apply cold air or an ice pack for a short time. You should keep the treated areas out of the sun or apply sunscreen for protection. Your technician can recommend additional follow-up care.

Q. Is there any downtime associated with the treatment?

Although you may experience mild redness and swelling for a few hours following the treatment, you can expect to return to your regular activities immediately.

Excel V - Helps with redness, overall pigmentation issues, rosacea skin types

Excel V is a laser system for treatment of a variety of vascular and benign pigmented skin conditions. Many conditions manifest in the form of broken or abnormal blood vessels in the skin, as is the case with rosacea, in which the facial blood vessels dilate excessively causing redness and flushing. The laser heats the abnormal vessels causing the vein walls to collapse and seal shut. Over time, the vessels will no longer be visible. Several treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired result.

Conditions treatable with the Excel V include:

-Cherry Angiomas
-Diffuse Redness
-Telangiectasias (broken capillaries)
-Leg Veins including Spider Veins and Reticular Veins (no injections, no compression hose)
-Blue Veins around the Eyes and Temple
-Hair Removal in Dark Skin Types
-Venous Lakes

The treatment feels like a very short snap from a rubber band. It is tolerable without any topical anesthesia, but we can get you topical anesthetic if so. Afterwards, there will be redness of the skin for up to 24 hours, and sometimes longer. There is swelling around the eyes if extensive work in the upper cheek was performed. Swelling can last up to 3 days and rarely requires steroids for diminishing it.
