How does laser hair removal work?
Hair has three phases of growth but is only effected by laser light when it’s in the anagen, or active growth phase. That is because hair follicles in the active growth phase have the most melanin and it’s the melanin that attracts the energy from the laser. During treatment, laser energy is directed toward the area being treated. It deeply penetrates the skin, heating the follicle to the critical temperature to destroy it and prevent further hair growth. While the follicle is impaired, the surrounding skin is unaffected.
How many sessions should I need?
We do recommend a series of treatments as the laser is only effective on hair follicles within the active growth stage. The cycle of hair growth changes on all different parts on the body. While facial hair normally grows quicker, body hair can have a longer growth cycle. While many clients enjoy 15-20% of hair reduction after a single treatment, you may need the recommended 6-8 visits to be 90-95% hair free. Length between treatments can be 4-8 weeks. With each treatment, hair is reduced and for most clients’ best results are seen after eight sessions. The actual number of sessions needed will differ depending on your hair color, hair type, body area, and skin tone.
At Capital Skin we do recommend 6-8 sessions to see your best results. We do require a consultation to see if you are a candidate for this procedure and to give you a final price and amount of visits. At Capital Skin when making a consultation appointment we do ask for a card on file, the card will not be charged unless you do not show for your appointment or you cancel with less then 24 hours notice. Unlike traditional methods (waxing, shaving, bleaching or using depilatory creams), Laser Hair Removal impacts the root of the problem, rather than offering a temporary solution. Laser Hair Removal targets those cells through pulses of energy which pass through the skin and are attracted to the pigment in your follicle. When those follicles become damaged by the laser, the hair will no longer grow from that area. We offer pricing per session only. We do offer consultation and same day treatment so we can provide you with pricing before treatment. We do off 50% off your first session and 25% off remaining sessions!
