Colonie

Located in Albany County, New York, Colonie is a quaint village that is growing fast. As of 2010, the population of Colonie was 7,793 people. The village was founded in 1754 and is home to the University of Albany. The village is home to several businesses, such as the New York State College of Pharmacy. Residents enjoy a variety of recreational activities, including golfing and hiking.

During his time as mayor, Frank Leak was a driving force for the community. He was proud of the programs he had initiated, such as the Amphitheater for the Arts. When he was forced to step down as town supervisor in October 2019, he was replaced by Acting Mayor Edward Sim. The village faced the COVID-19 Pandemic in the months that followed, but the new mayor was elected to continue his legacy of health and safety.

The historic center of Colonie is the Casparus F. Pruyn House in Newtonville. The town has a total area of 57.9 square miles, which is roughly equal to 141.8 square kilometers. Five6.1 square miles of this are land and 1.8 square miles are water. The Hudson River and the Mohawk River are also close to Colonie, making it an excellent place to live.
